French Writer Wins the 2008 Nobel Prize for Literature

We all knew an American author wouldn't win the Nobel Prize this year.  What with the revelation from the Nobel Academy's permanent secretary that American writers were too concerned with following American popular culture to qualify for the prize AND that American authors are just too ignorant to know great writing.

The prestigious prize goes to French novelist, Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clézio, an “author of new departures, poetic adventure and sensual ecstasy, explorer of a humanity beyond and below the reigning civilization.”  Here is a list of his books.

Ah, but here Wikipedia fails us again. Neither of his books for younger readers, Lullaby or Balaabilou, are on the list. Granted, they don't also appear to have ever been translated to English... perhaps some (smart) publisher will take a chance with these books.

Glad you knew about these other books. I just tried to find a list of all his books, and came up empty.

Thanks. BTW, love your new photo.
