On april 17, my students and I set balloons up with poems attached to it with the hope that someone will receive it! Yesterday we received a letter in our school from a family that lives an hour away! One of our balloon poems landed in her yard! How cool is that?

My good news? After a slightly scary evening yesterday, it looks like my daughter's hamster is not going to die. I was pretty freakin' worried, especially given that we just got the hamster on Friday and my girls already love her. She had a touch of "the runs" which is often fatal in hamsters, but today she seems better, Thank God.

Oh man. Glad the little hamster is getting better. This is what I'm worried about, if we get another pet for the kids.

Here's to good health for your hamster!

How common is it for hamsters to get the runs? I once had one who had diarrhea and he died. Whoops, this is supposed to be about tooting one's own horn, not dwelling on sad things.... let's see, I'm getting a lot of sunflower seeds to sprout indoors. Yay! I had planted lots directly outdoors, but then it SNOWED, so they probably got chilled. I'm seeing other seedlings pop up that may well not be weeds.
